GoldMine

The Gold Mine

The original name of the arcade in the mall was called The Gold Mine and looked across the ice skating rink. This first pic really is the malls "GoldMine" as shown in the pic below with band playing, but the band has been removed. The arcade had low ceilings and a bit of a "cave' feel to it (notice timbers at door) - but it was a great arcade! They had all the good games you just couldn't find anywhere else. Hard to find games...The large games you would sit inside like Afterburner, etc. I don't think they had any of the ticket games like the whack a mole or anything like that there. The pics below the line show the original photo of the band "Thrust" playing on the ice rink directly in front of the Goldmine. The other two pics show the hallway at the main entrance where the Goldmine was located and depict it both before and during demolition. There was a also a Wendy's Hambuger restaurant right next to it.

This arcade was such a big part of many a kids memory that now those grown kids are building rec room entrances in their homes modeled after this classic fun spot! Home Goldmine
