I check out the Mall of Memphis Website from time to time because it was my 2nd home for a very long time. My name is Dani, and I have been skating for 16 years. I started what is now my career at age 7 at the Ice Chalet in the Mall of Memphis. I miss it very much and its still, after 5 years a very sad and devastating loss to my past. I'm still skating to this day and I have been doing Ice Skating Professional Shows for almost 5 years (with pictures below to prove it!). I am looking forward to being a part of this website and sharing my stories. I really do miss that place! I just got back from Mexico for a skating show and on my way home from the airport passed what now is nothing but grass and dirt where the Mall once stood. That area of town was getting bad even when i was a little girl, but my parents were so supportive of me skating and me competing that if I did not wanna stop they were not gonna stop me from skating! They knew I loved it. It payed off for me even though the rink closed. I decided to continue skating, so I started homeschooling and went to Nashville a lot, and Little Rock. I got my 1st contract for a Professional Show in Florida at age 18 in 2004 and I have been performing ever since! But I will never forget where I came from, that Mall on American Way, that no one would step foot in because of how unsafe it got over the years, I still loved it and my dreams came true anyway. I currently still live in Memphis when I'm not at a show. I have skated with Disney on Ice, Snoopy On Ice, Cirque on Ice, Magic On Ice, Festival On Ice, Cypress Gardens on Ice, Lily Langtry's Ice Castles, Christmas Celebration on Ice, and many more. Thanks!
I also appeared in a Mall of Memphis brochure around 1999 - Mall of Memphis Brochure
Below are some of the pictures from my skating career, including some from the Mall. In the last picture you will see me and 2 other girls (the one with a girl dressed as a lion, one as a pirate - I'm the Butterfly in black with the blue wings. I am also on the Health and Fitness Magazine cover, the 2nd girl on the left with the purple dress.
