Hotel King Cotton

The Hotel King Cotton falls in a cloud of dust April 29, 1984 in this photograph made from the Mud Island monorail bridge. The 57-year-old structure was felled in about 12 seconds with 323 pounds of explosives. The hotel was demolished to make way for a 25 story office tower. (By David Smart/ The Commercial Appeal)
